Twenty-five years ago, the Clarke Institute for Community Inclusion (CICINY) was founded with a deep-rooted commitment to community service. Originally known as Quality Service Beyond Compliance (QSBC), the organization prioritized Service Coordination. In 2001, CICINY broadened its scope to include Community Habilitation (Com. Hab) Services, aimed at empowering individuals to lead autonomous and gratifying lives within their communities. The year 2014 marked the commencement of comprehensive day habilitation services for individuals with intellectual disabilities, focusing on personalized skill development crucial for community integration. Subsequently, in 2019, CICINY introduced Respite Services, offering Weekend and Overnight Respite, a valuable aid for the families under our care. In 2021, CICINY expanded its operations by establishing a new office in Queens, enabling the delivery of Day Habilitation services to the local community. At CICINY, our mission is dedicated to delivering vital services within communities facing the threat of isolation. Fundamental to our core values is the commitment to safeguarding against abuse and fostering a secure and nurturing environment for all individuals associated with our organization. Currently, we are actively pursuing expansion initiatives, intending to introduce Day Habilitation services in the Bronx and Nassau County. Our unwavering dedication at CICINY lies in enriching the lives of our beneficiaries by providing opportunities and assistance to improve their daily lives.

Become a Volunteer:
Being a volunteer with the Clarke Institute for Community Inclusion will allow you to work with adults with developmental disabilities. It is important to highlight the valuable impact you can make in the lives of these individuals when you volunteer. You will have the chance not only to assist them, but to promote inclusion, provide support and contribute to their personal growth. You will have an amazing opportunity to develop meaningful relationships, gain new perspectives and make a difference in the community. By engaging in this rewarding work, you can contribute to enhancing their communication skills, while showing empathy and compassion. The Day Habilitation program (Day Hab) where our volunteers are assigned, allows the individuals we serve to take part in various social, physical and academic activities such as trips to the malls and theme parks; visits to recreation centers, and working on personal goals among other activities. Our individuals are picked up from their homes every morning and return after the day’s activities have ended. We are confident that those who choose to volunteer in this capacity will find it to be a fulfilling and enriching experience.
